London Marathon
We are immensely proud to spotlight Sarah Hughes, Front Office Manager, who ran the London Marathon in April. Her inspiring journey wasn't just about personal triumph; it was about making a difference. Sarah dedicated her run to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust, a cause deeply dear to her heart. Through her dedication and determination, she raised an incredible £2427. Sarah's amazing achievement represents the spirit of giving and compassion that defines The Belfry community.

Best Employer Award
In April, The Belfry attended the Springboard Awards for Excellence in London. The Springboard Awards are one of the most prestigious recognitions in the hospitality sector and we were thrilled to win the Best Employer Award. Our benefits, rewards, learning programmes, wellbeing focus and work experience programmes were just few of the elements which helped to secure this fantastic award. This achievement reflects our commitment to our team members, their growth, and our industry and we are very proud of the recognition.

April Charity Fundraising
As part of the Belfry’s Charity Fundraising, the Sales team were on The Brabazon golf course hosting a 10th Hole Challenge. Guests and team members were challenged to have a go for the chance to win fantastic prizes and help the Sales team raise money for our nominated charities Teenage Cancer Trust, Hospitality Action and MND. On the day an incredible £1000 were raised.

International Salon Culinaire Competition
We are very proud to share that Methus Sawangseang, Chef de Partie at The Belfry, was awarded two medals at the International Salon Culinaire Competition last week: Silver - Junior Restaurant Fish Course and Bronze - Junior Lamb. The International Salon Culinaire is a prestigious culinary competition that has been championing excellence for over a century. Congratulations Methus!

Celebrating Our Team's Generosity
Big news! In February, our greenkeeping team and Sam's Clubhouse crew teamed up to support three incredible charities: Teenage Cancer Trust, MND Research, and Hospitality Action. Guess what? Our greenkeeping team raised £220, and the Sam's Clubhouse gang raised an impressive £340 through a sponsored walk! We couldn't be prouder of their generosity and teamwork. Way to go, team!

January Health & Wellness
In the month of January, our monthly wellness focus has been Health and Fitness. We asked our teams to choose 2-3 simple and achievable goals weekly – one related to fitness and one related to nutrition. Throughout the month our Leisure team posted video’s to help motivate and inspire the team, providing hints and tips.

Menopause Support Session
The Belfry hosted its first menopause support group of 2024, focusing on the topic of nutrition and menopause. A qualified nutritionist led the session, guiding participants through a comprehensive exploration of dietary choices to navigate the challenges and changes associated with menopause. Attendees engaged in an open and supportive dialogue, sharing experiences and insights while delving into the role of nutrition in managing symptoms and promoting overall well-being during this life transition.

Greenkeeping Training
The Greenkeepers are holding some indoor training sessions to warm up the team and have a cuppa – learning all about Growth Potential, Growing Degree Days, and how the weather can affect the turf. There’s a lot of science and skill behind what this team do, it’s not just cutting grass!

The Burnt Chef Project
The Burnt Chef Project is working in close partnership with the resort to challenge the stigma around mental health. A dedicated trainer from The Burnt Chef took some of our Managers through a great training session on this key topic to raise awareness and increase their confidence when supporting their team with their mental health…all to continue to create a happy and healthy workplace #breakingthestigma

Curry & Quiz Night
In July we held our annual Curry & Quiz Night to thank all of our team for their hard work and dedication it took to host The British Master 2023. Our Housekeeping Team took home the trophy beating the rest of the resort….go Housekeeping!

Belfry Hero Award
Jamie Wade from the Greenkeeping team won our Belfry Hero Award for Manager of the Quarter. Together with his team, Jamie has done a fantastic job and worked immensely hard to get the Brabazon course to an exceptional standard for the British Masters. Jamie goes above and beyond for his team and the resort day in day out. Congratulations Jamie!

Maggie Pritchard received a nice surprise from the Greenkeeping team to say thank you for adjusting the canteen opening times during the British Masters 2023 to ensure everyone got a great breakfast! Our free canteen is just one of the many perks of working at The Belfry and Maggie does everything she can to make sure we are well looked after. Thanks Maggie!

Art of Hospitality
Our Art of Hospitality Workshop was delivered to some of our guest facing teams from across the resort to talk about the key aspects of guest service such as the Hospitality Professional, Guest Empathy, Guest Engagement and the Art of Making a Difference (one of our Belfry Beliefs).

Snowdon Skyline Challenge
In April, along with another 55 hospitality professionals, Robert Bates, Executive Head Chef and Wesley Myles, Meeting & Events Manager, went on a 14-mile hike over 5 summits in Snowdonia, finishing up with Snowdon. Robert and Wesley helped to raise much needed funds to support The Burnt Chef Project who are breaking the stigma of mental illness in the global hospitality community.
